About
Overview
The site is a forested hilltop in Eastern Finland with beautiful views over inland lake landscape. To maintain the qualities of the site, the program has been divided into smaller volumes that are placed in between the existing trees. The experience of the spa is therefore governed by the meeting with nature and weather: the visitor will enjoy a warm bath and sauna amid nature and cool off in the snow and brisk air. This contrast between temperatures and standing outside in the nature, steam coming off your body is the basis for a good Finnish sauna experience.
The project consists of three parts; the lighter and more social restaurant, the darker and more intimate spa, and finally ten free-standing cabinsthat are placed inside the forest, with the best chosen views.
